Getting started
How does automatic logging work?
Körlogg notices when you start driving from the phone's motion sensor and location, and measures the trip with GPS until the car has stood still for a few minutes. Between trips the app sleeps and uses almost no battery. It needs location access “Always” with Precise Location, and Motion & Fitness.
Which settings does Körlogg need?
In the iPhone Settings app under Körlogg: Location “Always” with Precise Location on, Motion & Fitness on and Background App Refresh on. Under Settings → Automatic logging in Körlogg you can see whether location and motion are allowed, and open the iPhone settings directly.
A trip was not logged. What can I do?
First check the permissions above: with “While Using” trips are only logged while the app is open. In Low Power Mode iOS wakes apps less often, so the start can come later. Leave Körlogg in the background rather than closing it in the app switcher. You can always add a missed trip yourself with the plus button.
Can I start and stop a trip myself?
Yes. With automatic logging off, the trip list shows a “Start trip” button. While a trip is recording, a box at the top of the trip list has a “Stop” button.
How do I mark trips as business or private?
Swipe a trip to the right for Business or to the left for Private, or open the trip and choose there. For a Dutch car you choose Commute (woon-werk) in the trip itself. Under Settings → Defaults you decide how new weekday and weekend trips are marked.
Cars
How do I add a car?
Open Vehicles and tap plus. Enter the name and registration number, choose the type and, if you like, what the odometer shows today. Your first car becomes the default vehicle.
Why can't I change a car's country?
Each car follows one country's tax rules. Once the car has trips the country is locked, so earlier trips keep their rules. If you move, choose “Add this car in another country”: new trips land on the new car and the old one keeps its history.
The registration number changed. What do I do?
Until the car's first trip is a week old you can simply correct the number. After that it is locked, and you enter a new number from a given day with “New registration number…”. Trips before that day keep the old number.
What is the default vehicle?
Automatically logged trips go to the default vehicle, unless a Bluetooth beacon names another car. You can always change the car of a trip in the trip itself.
Can I log several cars?
Yes, with Körlogg Pro. Each car has its own country, odometer readings and report. Choose the car in the trip, or let a Bluetooth beacon in each car choose for you.

Bluetooth beacon (Pro)
Which settings control automatic logging?
Under Settings → Automatic logging: “Log trips automatically” turns detecting trips by themselves on or off. “Start trips with beacon” lets the car's beacon start a trip. “Only record with a beacon” makes trips start automatically only when a beacon is nearby. A trip goes to the car whose beacon was seen, otherwise to the default vehicle. Under Settings → Defaults you choose how new weekday and weekend trips are marked.
What does a Bluetooth beacon do?
A beacon is a small battery-powered Bluetooth tag that stays in the car. When your iPhone comes near it, Körlogg starts recording and puts the trip on that car. The trip ends as usual when the car stands still.
How do I link a beacon?
Open Vehicles, tap the car and choose “Bluetooth beacon”. Tap “Search for beacons” with the beacon switched on next to the phone, then tap it in the list. Location access must be “Always”.
Which beacon should I buy?
Körlogg works with beacons that support Apple's iBeacon format. Most modern beacons do, often alongside Eddystone or AltBeacon, which you choose in the maker's own app – check that the product mentions iBeacon. They cost roughly €10–30. Minew, Feasycom, Kontakt.io and Estimote are found by the search automatically; other brands work too if you enter the ID manually. Apple does not sell beacons itself.
Can I use an AirTag?
No. An AirTag only works with Apple's Find My app and keeps changing its identity, so other apps cannot recognise it. The same goes for Samsung SmartTag and Tile. Körlogg needs a beacon with iBeacon – see the question above.
The search does not find my beacon.
iPhone can only find beacons whose ID it knows, and the search covers the default IDs of the most common brands. Open the beacon's own app, copy its UUID (and major and minor if you like) and enter it under “Enter ID manually”.
Can I stop the beacon from starting trips?
Yes. Turn off “Start trips with beacon” under Settings. Trips are then detected as without a beacon, but a beacon seen during the trip still picks the car.
Can Körlogg log only when I drive my own car?
Yes. Turn on “Only record with a beacon” under Settings. Trips are then logged automatically only when your car's beacon is nearby, so rides in other cars, taxis and buses are skipped. Manual trips work as usual. Keep an eye on the beacon's battery: when it is flat, no trips are logged automatically.
What if the beacon's battery runs out?
Trips still start by themselves, but they go to the default vehicle. The beacon's page shows when it was last seen, and if it has not been seen for two weeks while you were driving, a card in the trip list reminds you to check the battery. With “Only record with a beacon” on, a flat battery means no automatic trips at all, and the card appears after three days.
Odometer
How do odometer readings work?
Read the odometer once and enter it on the car's page under “Odometer now”. Körlogg then fills in the reading at the start and end of every trip from the logged kilometres. Those values are marked as calculated (≈ in the export); what you type yourself is never changed.
When should I enter a new reading?
Whenever you like: each new reading becomes the starting point for the trips around it. Körlogg reminds you in the trip list every 30 days, or every week where the rules ask for it (for example in Germany, Austria, the Netherlands and Denmark).
Report and export
How do I see a report?
Open Report and choose a month or a year and a car. The report adds up business and private driving and, with Pro, the car's mileage allowance.
How do I export my log?
Tap “Export mileage log” under Report and choose PDF or Excel. Export is part of Körlogg Pro. You can share the file by email or save it in Files.
What does the report contain?
The details your tax authority asks for: date and time, start and end address, distance, purpose and odometer readings, plus driver and car. Changes made to a trip afterwards are listed too.
Körlogg Pro
What does Pro include?
Export as PDF and Excel, several cars and drivers, the mileage allowance and odometer check, preset routes, all trips open (without Pro the 25 most recent), iCloud sync and the Bluetooth beacon. Logging trips is unlimited without Pro too.
Is there a trial?
New users are offered a trial week during their first week after installing. You can cancel during the trial in your App Store subscriptions.
I bought Pro on another iPhone.
Go to Settings, tap “Get Körlogg Pro” and choose “Restore”. Use the same Apple ID as for the purchase.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are handled by Apple: open the Settings app on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Körlogg. A lifetime purchase has nothing to cancel.
Privacy and iCloud
Where are my trips stored?
On your iPhone. You use Körlogg without an account and without logging in.
When does Körlogg use my location?
GPS runs only while a trip is being logged. Between trips the app sleeps and only gets the coarse wake-ups iOS uses to notice that you are leaving.
What does iCloud sync do?
With Pro you can turn on sync under Settings. Trips, vehicles, odometer readings, places and preset routes are then also kept in your own private iCloud and appear on your other devices with the same Apple ID. Körlogg cannot read them. If you turn sync off, everything stays on the phone.
